Dr Fernanda Barros is a registered psychologist with over 10 years of experience in private practice, in addition to earlier work across a range of organisations, including rehabilitation centres and addiction services. She works with adults (18+) as well as couples and families, supporting clients through life transitions, cross-cultural adaptation, adjustment difficulties, interpersonal challenges, loss, and career change.
Fernanda is trained in existential phenomenology, an approach that understands the human condition as shaped by challenges such as loss of meaning, anxiety in the face of uncertainty, and experiences of meaninglessness. Her work is strongly meaning-focused, helping clients develop deeper self-awareness and explore their values, purpose, and sense of identity.
Alongside her existential framework, she integrates evidence-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy, as well as psychodynamic approaches. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and holistic, supporting clients in building coping strategies and resilience while working toward meaningful personal goals.
